LGBTQ+ Fertility Care

Inclusive, knowledgeable fertility care for queer, trans, and nonbinary families

At Bay Fertility Care, LGBTQ+ fertility care is a core part of my practice. As a queer person myself, I provide informed, affirming, and clinically grounded fertility services for people building families outside of heterosexual norms.

Whether you’re planning your first insemination or navigating a more complex path to conception, Bay Fertility Care offers personalized support rooted in both medical expertise and lived understanding of queer family-building.

Who Is Midwife-Led Fertility Care For?

I support a wide range of individuals and family structures, including:

  • Queer couples pursuing pregnancy

  • Solo parents by choice using donor sperm

  • Trans and nonbinary people seeking fertility support

  • Couples using known or directed donors

  • People navigating fertility after gender-affirming hormone treatment

  • Clients seeking alternatives to clinical or hospital-based fertility care

Care is grounded in respect for your identity, your body, and your family-building path.

Fertility Services for LGBTQ+ Clients

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

I offer IUI and fertility services in a supportive home setting, including:

  • Cycle tracking and ovulation timing

  • At-home or in-office insemination

  • Guidance on sperm sourcing (bank or known donor)

  • Support with timing, medications (if applicable), and protocols

I specialize in working with queer families and understand the nuances of donor sperm conception, legal considerations, and timing for optimal chances of success.

Intracervical Insemination (ICI)

For those seeking a lower-intervention option, I provide:

  • Education on ICI (often called “at-home insemination” or “vaginal insemination”)

  • Hands-on guidance for timing and technique

  • Supplies and protocol support

This can be a good fit for clients early in their fertility journey or those wanting a more “DIY” approach.

With an ICI, sperm is placed in the vagina rather than through the cervix and into the uterus.

Donor Sperm Support

Support navigating:

  • Choosing between sperm banks and known donors

  • Understanding donor screening and FDA regulations

  • Legal considerations for known donor arrangements

  • Coordinating timing with frozen or fresh sperm

Cycle Tracking + Fertility Awareness

Accurate timing is critical for conception. I offer:

  • Ultrasound monitoring (when indicated)

  • Hormone tracking and interpretation

  • Cervical fluid and ovulation education

  • Customized timing plans for insemination

Preconception Care

I provide comprehensive preconception support, including:

  • Health optimization before pregnancy

  • Lab work and fertility assessment

  • Review of medical history and medications

  • Planning around prior fertility challenges

Care for Trans and Nonbinary Clients

I provide fertility care that is explicitly inclusive of trans and nonbinary people.

This includes:

  • Fertility support before, during, or after testosterone use

  • Respectful, consent-based exams and procedures

  • Flexible language and documentation practices

  • Collaborative care with other providers when needed

I understand that receiving fertility care can evoke dysphoria or other complex feelings about gender. My care is respectful, and your autonomy is always at the center.

Why Work With Bay Fertility Care

  • Deep experience with queer family-building

  • Clinical skill combined with relational care

  • Flexible options (home insemination, low-intervention approaches)

  • Transparent guidance without unnecessary escalation to IVF

  • Integration with full-scope midwifery care when desired

I aim to make fertility care more accessible, less medicalized, and more aligned with your values.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to go to a fertility clinic to get pregnant as a queer couple?

Not always. Many people conceive using IUI or ICI outside of a large fertility clinic, especially when there are no known fertility challenges. We can help assess what level of care is appropriate for you.

What’s the difference between IUI and ICI?

  • IUI places sperm directly into the uterus and typically has higher success rates per cycle

  • ICI places sperm at the cervix and can be done at home or with support

We help you choose based on your goals, timeline, and medical context.

Can I use a known donor?

Yes. We work with many clients using known donors and can guide you through medical screening, timing, and logistics. Legal agreements are strongly recommended.

Do you work with trans clients?

Yes. This is a core part of our practice. We provide fertility care that is clinically competent and explicitly trans-inclusive.
