At-Home IUI With A Licensed Midwife
What Is At-Home IUI?
At-home IUI (intrauterine insemination) is a fertility procedure where washed sperm is placed directly into the uterus during ovulation, performed in your home by a licensed midwife in the San Francisco Bay Area. Care includes detailed cycle tracking support, sperm preparation, and precisely timed insemination based on your body’s natural fertility signals. At-home IUI offers a flexible, personalized alternative to clinic-based fertility care.
My care is personalized, relational, and grounded in both clinical precision and holistic methods.
If you are seeking fertility support outside of a traditional clinic setting — or want more continuity and individualized care — I provide fertility consultation, and in-home insemination tailored to your needs.
If you’re looking for a detailed overview of how at-home IUI works, you can read my full guide here.
Who Is At-Home IUI For?
I work with:
Queer families and LGBTQ+ parents-to-be
Solo parents by choice
People using known donors or working with sperm banks
Individuals and couples seeking midwife-led fertility care
Those who want a more relational alternative to high-volume clinic care
My practice centers informed consent, reproductive autonomy, and care that is both medically grounded and emotionally attuned.
How At-Home IUI Works:
1. Initial Consultation
We begin with a virtual or in-office consultation to review your health history and fertility goals, and to create a plan of care tailored to your needs. We discuss IUI timing, labs, donor logistics, and whether midwife-led IUI is a good fit for you. If indicated, I can also order fertility labs and ultrasounds as part of the initial evaluation.
2. Cycle Tracking & Coordination
I support you in identifying ovulation timing and coordinating when to perform the IUI around your individual fertility. Cycle tracking with LH tests is a primary way that we time IUIs, and the consultation will cover this in detail. I will also be available for texting and phone support as you progress through the cycle monitoring process.
3. The IUI Procedure
Insemination is performed using sterile technique and carefully timed placement of washed sperm into the uterus. The procedure is brief and typically well-tolerated. Compared to clinic-based IUI, at-home IUI offers more flexibility, personalized timing, and a lower-intervention approach, with comparable success rates.
4. Ongoing Support
I remain available for follow-up questions, pregnancy testing guidance, and next-cycle planning if needed.
